East Coast Eh!

Late to get on the road this morning but it was worth it.  Last night we covered the windows with towels to keep the parking-lot lights out and it also kept the sun out, giving us a good sleep in.  The boys walked across the lot to get hair cuts and look very fresh and dapper now.  The girls went into Walmart for new soap for the boys and to use their washroom.

We tried to look at planes at the Gander Airport before leaving town but couldn't really get close.  Instead, we went to Dominion (Loblaws to all the Mainlanders) for fresh veggies and then hit the road.  Off to see Martin and his dad.  Martin is a family friend on the Sharkey side and we were happy to see him. Lots of family history here for him.  Oh, "here" is East Port, Nfld by-the-by.

Martin took us over to Sandy Cove to hike around the beach and we found ... Can you guess?  ... Lots of critters.  We climbed around and all over huge rock formations in order to reach them but there were star fish, sculpins (ugly spiney fish), crabs, mussels, sea urchins and more.  On the walk back to the truck, Mike and Matthew couldn't resist a swim.

Afterwards we picked up Martin's dad and we all went to the local restaurant.  Yumm.   No seafood here but warm meals are always good!

Sculpin (when very young)

Off to our campsite for the next two nights.  We have hopes to see Matin again tomorrow with a special surprise in the works!  😁

Above is our campsite at Terra Nova National Park.  It's all being revamped and all the utilities are on the tail end of being redone so there are shiny, fresh pump outs and bathrooms for us.  Gotta admit, even though the shower head was pretty bad, it felt amazing to get clean and have lots of hot water!
