Leaving Gros Morne ... Finding Family

We have data and wifi again but, for whatever reason, photos are not uploading for me now.  Another text post for you.  Pics are on the others and are ready for upload when it does start working again... Keep on checking!

This morning started early (the kids were sooooooo "excited" about that) but it was worth it.  By lunch time we had already surpassed our daily goal of 10,000 steps each and we're soaked to the bone.  Perfection lol

We did the guided hike of the Tablelands in Gros Morne, an hour and a half drive, plus construction traffic and when we got there the weather was cool and misty.  We followed the guide and learned about the formations of the Newfoundland and Atlantic earth-surface, about the huge chunk of the Earth's mantle that is exposed in the shape of those particular mountains and about the vwry limited plant life there.  The kids got to explore pitcher plants and use syringes to extract the liquids from inside them too.  Very cool.

After the guide took us all along the pathway to the end of the trail she left us to either hang out and ask questions of herself or the scientific team OR we could head back towards the vehicles OR we could wander off-trail on our own.  Guess which route the Russells went..... Yuppers.  We went off road.

It was gorgeous and we got to see and touch plants and the Earth's mantle and all kinds of great stuff.  It rained and blew wind at us for the entire trek back but it was worth it.  We changed clothes in the parking lot ... Okay, in Dragon which was in the parking lot... And then jumped in the truck.

The kids handed in their Jr Explorer booklets at the Discovery Center down the road and we have now crossed Nfld off the list for their dogtags.

We hit Irving truck stop for some nutrition and fast wifi and then hit the road.

Now we are in Botwood in the driveway of Mike's cousin.  It's fantastic to meet family and to have the opportunity to get to know them.  Amazing ☺️☺️
